In this post in sha Allah I will try to explain 3 dreams of prophets(peace be upon all of them) and how amazingly they are connected. So lets get ready to know how amazing the Quran is.
3 Dreams in Quran |
From Ibrahim A.S we get 2 nations. Children of Ismail and children of Ishaq. Yaqoob A.S who is also called Israel was a son of Ishaaq A.S. So nation from him are called children of Israel (bani Israel). Therefore at one hand there is bani Ismail and on the other hand there is bani Israel. And both of these nations goes back to Ibrahim A.S.
There are 3 dreams in the Quran from Prophets. The first dream is of Ibrahim A.S. Where he saw that he was slaughtering his son Ismail A.S and he saw that multiple times. This is the first dream of a prophet. The second dream of a prophet is of Yusuf A.S where he saw that eleven stars and the sun and moon were prostrating to him. The third dream in the Quran is that of Muhammad SAW. It Is mentioned in Surah Al-Fath. Allah SWT confirmed the dream of Prophet Muhammad SAW that they are going to make Haj. And they are going to be shaving their heads. When the one shaves their head during Haj? One shaves his head after the animal is slaughtered.
Here is the amazing thing, all 3 of these dreams are connected to each other. And actually our Messenger Muhammad SAW is the fulfillment of the first 2 dreams. The first dream was of Ibrahim A.S where he was slaughtering Ismail A.S. And When finally he went to do this Allah replaced Ismail A.S and that became the legacy of sacrifice. And that sacrifice became the part of Haj. Muhammad SAW saw in his dream that he will be doing Hajj. In other word mission that was started with Ibrahim a.s reaches its perfection with Muhammad SAW. Thus the 2 dreams are directly connected to each other.
Now let's come to the dream of Yusuf A.S. Interpretation of Yusuf A.S dream was he overpowers his brothers but forgives them even though they had done wrong to him in past. By the end of Surah Yusuf we get to know that, when he overpowers them, he turns to his brothers and says ‘No harm will come to you today’. He forgives his brothers. That was the interpretation of his dream of eleven stars and the sun and moon were prostrating to him.
Now the dream of Muhammad SAW was that he makes Haj. And he couldn't make Haj until he could take over Makkah. As Quresh were against this so first Muslims had to conquer Makkah. So the fulfillment of prophets dream happened at Fath Makkah(victory of Makkah). When Muhammad SAW conquered makkah, he also had brothers there that had done him wrong. And they were Quraish. And now he had overpowered them. So when He overpowered them he should be punishing them as they had done so much wrong with him and with his companions in past. But instead of taking revenge He said, I will say to you what my brother Yusuf A.S had said. So he says to them ‘No harm will come to you today’ the exact same words which Yusuf A.S had said to his brothers. Amazing.
Muhammad SAW is a completion of dream of Ibrahim A.S with Ismail A.S. And he is also completion of a dream of Yousuf A.S who was a son of Yaqoob(Israil) A.S. Ibrahim A.S had 2 lineages, one through Ismail and other through Israel. One of the dream is from one family which is bani Israil and the other dream of Yousuf A.S is from other family which is bani Israil. And now the Muhammad SAW is fulfilling both of those family lines. They all come together with him.
What we learning here is that when Rasool of Allah Muhammad SAW is final messenger, it no longer matters whether one is from bani Ismail or bani Israel. It is about fulfillment of the legacy of our father Ibrahim A.S. One of the scholar says that entire mission of Muhammad SAW was to clean and purify the house of Allah built by his father Ibrahim A.S. I.e cleaning of the Kaaba from false Idols so that people could worship only one Allah SWT again.
This post was based on my notes taken from one of the lectures of brother Nouman Ali Khan.
